friday spin: Hayes Carll

There has been so much good music coming through Nashville the past few months, and every time I am out at a show I feel so grateful to be smack in the middle of a place—physically and personally—where I can experience it. Hayes Carll played Mercy Lounge on Wednesday night as part of the AMA Conference that is in town right now, and I had four cool girlfriends to go with! I love Hayes Carll, and maybe it was the vibe of the night, but I made a bold statement that he has moved into my “top 5” list. I may have jumped the gun on that one and declared that in the heat of the moment though, because I am usually careful to never really finalize that list. Too much commitment! However, I do feel confident in saying that he lives in the realm with a handful of other artists that have my heart. Maybe it is that twang, or how he draws it all out so much, but I dig everything about him!!

"It's a Shame"

"Stomp and Holler"

"A Girl Downtown"

"Hard Out Here"

"KMAG YOYO"

"I Don't Wanna Grow Up"

Had so much fun on Wednesday night too! Love how he mentions Tunica in this version of "Hard Out Here". Did you hear it? Ahahaha. Hilarious. Love you! Hope to see you on Sat at Mel Mor's tailgate!
